Waters from the New River form the peaceful Hawks Nest Lake pictured above. Up stream from the lake, the narrow canyon and rushing water create one of the most challenging whitewater boating waterways in the nation.

There was a little inflatable pool that had been sorely neglected and had filled with tadpoles and frogs. The nieces decided to jump in there (ew), empty it, and catch all the frogs.

Tori wanted to keep them. My other niece wanted to kill them.

Let’s hope neither got their way.
